The 2012 National Bike Challenge is on!
The complete results from the first week are available at National Bike Challenge 2012

The top five riders are: Phil Perry, Charles Reidy, Blaine Eddy, John Cook and Maria Teresa Herd.
The top five teams are: Bikes as Transportation Richmond, Central Indiana Bicycling Association, Ingersoll Rand - Carmel, The Pedaling Pedaggogues, and In it for the Patachou.
The top five workplaces are: Ingersoll Rand, The Burke Group, State of Indiana, MSD Wayne and Earlham College.
The top five communities are: Richmond, Crawfordsville, Greensburg, Indianapolis-Carmel, and Scottburg.

I hope you were able to participate in the national call-in day for bicyclists and pedestrians! To recap, HR 7 will eliminate dedicated funding for bicycle and pedestrian programs. To see America Bike’s top 10 reasons the House bill is bad for biking and walking: Top 10 Reasons
The Senate bill (MAP-21) dilutes biking and walking programs and leaves the funding at risk to be diverted to state highway projects. There is an amendment to this bill that would improve the MAP-21 Senate bill by giving a voice to local governments in their transportation decisions, allowing communities to build the sidewalks, crosswalks, and bikeways that keep people safe
